This new system emphasizes the efforts of those who wish to climb the rankings. Here are the key points: - Annual Reset: Rankings will be reset each year following the National Championships. An athlete’s placement at Nationals will determine their ranking for the following year.
- Challenging for Rank: Athletes may improve their ranking by issuing a challenge to another ranked member.
- Match Format: Ranking challenges will be contested as a best-of-five supermatch.
- Challenge Timeframe: Once a challenge has been accepted, the match must take place within two months.
- Weight Class Requirements: By default, both athletes must be within the weight limit of the division being contested. Exceptions will be considered only in rare circumstances, and both athletes must verify their body weight prior to the challenge.
- Travel and Match Arrangements: The challenger is responsible for travelling to the match location. The challenged athlete, in conjunction with their club captain, is responsible for arranging a regulation table and an approved referee for the match.
